... Not Just L.A., The City of Angels Is Everywhere...

I was age five when the bishop stood over me and said, "Stop babbling about what the priest did to you." Then, forty years later... I started babbling.

The Pope and his Bishops Have Got It Ass Backwards. They are the Perps in this Catholic Holocaust, not the Victims

.
When his pastor slips it out in a Vatican sermon, you know the Pope and his colleagues are likely saying the same thing when they get together behind the curtains, that they are the victims of the pedophile priest epidemic in the Catholic Church.

(This post was drafted here then published a little tighter at AlterNet in the SoapBox)

Consider this: The expression "soul murder" to describe the global experience of pedophile priest victims was first used by Catholic advocacy groups like VOTF. Suicide rates are extremely high among the survivors of pedo-priest sex crimes. Many of the victims who do make it to adulthood are unemployable because of behavior, anger, and sexual problems. Often family members of the adult victims feel the brunt of the crimes as well.

Yet among survivors, the closest analogy I've ever heard anyone make to the WWII Holocaust concerns a museum. Often among ourselves it comes up, we should put together a museum someday, like the Holocaust Museum, a collection of documents, photos, films. Then in the years since 2002 Bishop Accountability has sort of become our Holocaust Museum online, so no one has really run with the idea.

The Pope and the Bishops have got it ass backwards. They are the Perpetrators in this Catholic Holocaust, not the victims.

GOOD FRIDAY VATICAN QUOTE:

"They [Jews] know from experience what it means to be victims of collective violence and also because of this they are quick to recognize the recurring symptoms.”

Rev. Raniero Cantalamessa said it in a Good Friday homily in front of Pope Benedict XVI in St. Peter’s Basilica, April 2, 2010, and was quoted in news media all over the world.

NOTE: "Epidemic Disease" that causes mass destruction, such as sexually deviant priests who rape hundreds of thousands of children, can be termed a Holocaust.

HOLOCAUST: from Dictionary Dot Com:

Word History: Totality of destruction has been central to the meaning of holocaust since it first appeared in Middle English in the 14th century, used in reference to the biblical sacrifice in which a male animal was wholly burnt on the altar in worship of God. Holocaust comes from Greek holokauston ("that which is completely burnt"), which was a translation of Hebrew 'ōlâ (literally "that which goes up," that is, in smoke).

In the 17th century the meaning of holocaust broadened to "something totally consumed by fire," and the word eventually was applied to fires of extreme destructiveness.

In the 20th century holocaust has taken on a variety of figurative meanings, summarizing the effects of war, rioting, storms, epidemic diseases, and even economic failures.

Application of the word Holocaust to describe the mass murder of the Jews occurred as early as 1942, but the phrase the Holocaust did not become established until the late 1950s.

SATURDAY
CARTOONS!

From TruthDig above, and below, the Washington Post got some nasty letters to the editor because of this cartoon:

Note to Critcs/ Stalkers, Etc: Copyright law permits the use on blogs of copyright art and graphics, as long as the origin is cited AND the copyright item is not being used in a commercial enterprise.

So don't even bother with your flaky emails claiming you are going to indict me for copyright violation.

Those Opus Dei behind the scenes types are so funny to observe.
