... Not Just L.A., The City of Angels Is Everywhere...

I was age five when the bishop stood over me and said, "Stop babbling about what the priest did to you." Then, forty years later... I started babbling.

Extra: Fill Vatican w/Survivors Oct. 31, 2010 -Bernie McDaid Launches Reformation Day Project

.
On Halloween aka Reformation Day 2010 thousands of adult survivors of pedophile priest crimes will fill up St. Peter's Square at the Vatican, says Bernie McDaid of Boston. The Joseph Birmingham survivor who met with the Pope in 2008 launched a project this week hoping to get as many survivors as possible into St. Peter's Square on Reformation Day, October 31, 2010.

Imagine the news helicopters overhead as the image goes out all over the globe: Tens of thousands of persons who were victimized as children by the Church's negligent practices could fill up and overflow onto the streets of Rome.

October 31 celebrates the day the Reformation in Europe began, when Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses on the Wittenburg church door in Germany.

How appropriate to make the number and volume of adult victims of pedophile priests known to the world by filling the Vatican on Reformation Day.

McDaid will be on NPR tomorrow (Good Friday) on a panel during a pre-taped hour on the pedophile priest crisis in the Roman Catholic Church. The project will also be announced in Newsweek Magazine, next week's edition.

And you will be hearing a lot more here at City of Angels.

We talked to Bernie McDaid this afternnon and will publish our interview in at least one story coming up this weekend.

So, survivors, start getting your passport and papers ready, we have 8 months to plan this. Fundraising projects are a good start.

Watch City of Angels for more on Reformation Day 2010 in upcoming posts. Especially since this individual is starting to make plans for this trip now...

What a great idea! Kudo's to Bernie! I doubt that anything will change this institution but this is a protest on a massive scale that will get the world's attention.
