I wonder how many other victims are having this experience.
In the recent VOTF et al report they mention "publicly accused" priests and "credibly accused" priests found in the Chicago Archdiocese. Well my sister and I have both accused publicly a perp priest whose name is missing from the report. My sister quietly, me in my blog here and on AlterNet several times since 2007, in print, with pictures.
Yet Father Thomas Barry Horne of Bartlett, Illinois, St. Peter Damian parish, 1949-1975 is not in any database or report.
In February 2008, Horne was added to the Bishop Accountablity database, but his name disappeared from under H around February 2010. The VOTF report released October 11, 2010, used the Bishop Accountability database to figure its statistics.
How many more victims anonymously or quietly accusing priest sex crimes in Chicago have had their voices stifled like this?
With me having this experience, there could be dozens more priests in the Chicago Archdiocese whom victims accuse, but whose identities the Archdiocese and this report both continue to keep secret.
I accused Father Horne-y publicly, loudly, and in media. And I can't see his name in a report or database anywhere, even as an accused priest?
I wonder how many other victims are having this experience.

ReplyDeleteJust saw 2 of your CITY OF ANGELS articles on the bishop accountability.org abuse tracker this morning..
Thank you for writing and speaking out.
I believe that the majority of child and adult sexual abuse victims of catholic priests not only in chicago but all over the world have yet to be heard from and or validated when they have spoken out.
I have met victims in Hawaii who were abused in California, the midwest and the East coasts who are too messed up to understand the connection between their abuse by priest and their addictions and problems.. Have also met others who have been ignored when they spoke up..
