The Catholic Church in Germany set up the hotline last week expecting 150 to 200 calls, instead they are being inundated. More than four thousand calls came in the first week, reports CNN this morning.
As to the value of calling the institution that is guilty of the abuse to report the abuse, the anchor and CNN reporter both asked that question.
Still, the story today is four thousand calls since they opened their hotline to report sex abuse by priests a week ago. The CNN reporter said both survivors and perpetrators can call and report the crimes, anonymously.
Thing is, do the German police follow up on these calls to archdiocese offices? If not, who does follow up, and what do they do?
